Hello, world. First off, big thanks to Hearing Gold for the chance to do this guest post; appreciate it guys. You’ve got a solid blog going. Alright then, I am Danny and I run TRNSCNDNTmusic blog. I do everything over there on my own. I’m a college student in Wisconsin and have always had a love for music and sharing it so I figured I might as well give this blogging thing a go. I’ve had extremely good feedback since setting up TRNSCNDNT earlier this year in March. No idea where it’ll go in the future; right now it’s just a hobby. Maybe it would be cool to help contribute for a bigger blog or something in music. But I think I’ve slowly been creeping into the blogosphere and gaining some support. I think that music reviews in general are idiotic, where people just try to sound as music-savvy as possible and use really obscure metaphors and big words. I also hate genres. They are meaningless; I wish I didn’t have to categorize music on my blog, but there’s so much to have to sift through. But anyways, I try to post the newest songs in modern music as they are released.
Below are just some of the recent songs I’ve been digging. If you like them make sure to support the artists. Hope you guys enjoy, and head over to TRNSCNDNT for more tunes like these.
Easily one of my favourite producers of 2012, Karma Kid is an extremely young British bass producer who, mark my words, will be huge by the end of this year. Endorsed by Star Slinger, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, etc., and with a recent teaming up with Bondax to join the new label Just Us Recordings, it’s easy to see why this is probable. I’ve been backing this kid up since the beginning of TRNSCNDNTand have been happy to see his growth. Make sure you check out Karma Kid’s newest track ”It’s Always”, which is set to drop August 6th via Just Us Recordings featuring remixes from Star Slinger and Bondax.
Proud to say I’ve been a major promoter for Polkadot, a young UK producer who’s slowly been gaining attention. His post-dubstep / future garage vibes are to die for. He’s in the middle of finishing an EP which I can tell you already will be absolutely incredible (check out a clip of a track off it here). All I know is that he has only been getting better and better over the last couple months of following him. Do him a favour and go check out his Soundcloud.
The Supreme Cuts / Haleek Maul collaboration that is out August 21st might be one of my most anticipated albums this summer. The 15-year-old New York-born, Barbados-raised rapper has been constantly compared with Spaceghostpurrp. He’s got some mad potential for being so young. Still, one of his lyrics remains probably one of my favourite lines I’ve heard this year: "I am not a person, I’m just verses stuck inside your head"…so sick. Keep an eye on this kid (plus Clams Casino just followed him on twitter, maybe that’ll lead to something).
I received a submission from this young UK producer a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to hear these fine tunes due to my hesitation at the sight of his name. Regardless, Maths Time Joy has some real clean garage/bass tunes out there. He’s only 22. And you can pick up some of his stuff including his debut EP Lightyears over at his Bandcamp.
I first heard of Armeria when he did a song together with the fantastic Karma Kid. With only 3 songs out on his Soundcloud, this British producer embodies the ideology of quality over quantity. Not much out there on this guy other than his Soundcloud page, but I really hope to hear some more from him soon.
