Our favorite North Carolinian Dreams West dropped his new track “Saturn Valley” a couple of days ago and it’s precisely why he’s one of our number one sources for all things chill with a smooth analog touch. Japanese dialogue samples and those running piano melodies are just absolutely incredible and it might just be his best cut yet, seriously. You can grab this brand new track down below or via Soundcloud and also be sure to grab a copy of his new self-titled full-length cassette release via As Above So Below over at Dreams West’s Bandcamp.
Our favorite North Carolinian Dreams West has got some more new tracks to perk up your temporarily mundane day with. Besides his contribution track “Disengage” for our newest compilation Midnight Cassette, he had a few other tracks brewing at the same time, two of which are “Mind Over Midi” and “Peeeaaach Treeees”.
The first sounds like a dreamy instrumental battle where weapons used consists of hazy ’80s-filtered synths, beats, and samples which culminates into another familiar favorite (and for us, it’s a new all-time favorite). The latter track is actually a side of him we’ve never heard of before; with a tropical-pop tinge and obscured vocals, the song sheds a completely different side of his songwriting, but the aesthetics are still very much in the DW territory. Whatever side of him he decides to explore further, we’ll always be on board. Grab these two new tracks down below or via Soundcloud.
Hearing Gold are proud to present our latest compilation, Midnight Cassette, a brand new releasewhich we’ve been working on with the collective effort of some of our favorite artists, producers, and bands. The concept of this compilation was to curate a collection of tracks to listen to while freely cruising the road on a long, introspective drive.
Delving deeper into the specifics of the theme, we decided to conceptualize the approach by descriptively submerging the participating artists and producers with the image of an ’80s Camaro SS passing by blurry neon city lights well into the cover of the night. However, that’s not to say that this is the exact setting that is required because these particular images are subjective and would be so for the artists and producers interpreting them, but more so, we wanted to elicit as closely as possible the aesthetics of an ’80s soft, haze-filtered pop and new wave vibe that mimicked the feeling of peaceful isolation when it’s just you, your car and your tape deck.
The resulting effort you hear before you is a simple vision that came into fruition through the talent of some really creative people. Thanks to all the amazing artists, producers, and bands who have taken the time out of their schedules to contribute an exclusive, original, and quality track for the compilation. Check out the tracklist and stream the entire compilation down below via Soundcloud and then head over to Bandcamp to grab the compilation in its entirety. (Tip: Listen to the compilation in its sequential order and enjoy!)

Dreams West won’t stop, can’t stop spitting out these super chill tunes. His newest jam “Battery View” is a brilliant rendition of ‘cassette culture’—straight up vibes churning out from that 40+ year old cassette deck and stereo, with complimentary cassette soundbites at the beginning and end. However short the track may be, it does the job of overdosing its listeners with chronic nostalgia—plus there’s always the replay button. Cop it below for your playlist and go for a ride.
Dreams West’s 80s power trip track “Nu Age” gets paired with era appropriate visual clips featuring a thrill seeking woman on a mission of some sort. You can grab this track alongside a countless number of other similar stunning gems via Dreams West’s Soundcloud.
Dreams West doles out another intriguing track title with “EMC Corporation” and it does what the other gems found on his Soundcloud have done before; it graciously transfixes the listener in a chilled out haze and 70s/80s like aesthetics that conjures up visions of sailing trips on an infinite sea abyss. Be sure to check out his many tracks including “Shells” mentioned in our previous post (below), which will likely have the same affect.
North Carolina’s Dreams Westhas some copious amount of pretty intriguing tracks up on his Soundcloud, with even more interesting titles for some of them. The track “Shells” and “Tapedecks” interestingly enough is quite tame and void of a weird title, “Surf Nazi” though, definitely peaks a curious interest. These tracks can easily get anyone addicted and hooked for more, with its dreamily dull and hazy synth melodies and scales heard in filtered synths reminiscent of the 1980s. Be sure to grab them all below and peep his other tracks on Soundcloud with that similar chill demeanor found with these three amazing gems.
